Toshiba A100 on Android

There are a lot of netbooks on the market, featuring superb battery life and good performance in general. Most of them are using Windows 7 or custom-built Linux as the primary operating system, but the new Android operating system by Google is getting more and more attention from netbook manufacturers. Toshiba is among those manufacturers interested in Android, and the company will release an Android-based Toshiba A100 to the market soon.

With the official name Toshiba AC100, the new Toshiba netbook will carry Android 2.1 operating system and a 10.1” screen of amazing quality. Pair the operating system with high performance hardware and you will have one perfect portable device for sure. Seen from every angle, the Toshiba A100 looks very promising indeed.

An NVIDIA Tegra 250 processor operating at 1GHz, the Toshiba A100 is capable of completing a lot of complex tasks without hassle. The processor is further supported by advanced GPU module to enable high definition video playbacks and other interesting capabilities. The preinstalled 512MB RAM may not look much, but it is certainly more than enough for the device since it is running Android operating system; you can choose to upgrade the internal memory to up to 4GB when needed.

What’s interesting about the Toshiba A100 is the 32GB SSD storage. Most netbooks are switching to hard disks to reduce costs, but Toshiba decides to stick to SSD storage to enhance overall performance. 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi module, 3 USB 2.0 ports, and HDMI port are the provided connectivity features on this device.
